Muğla Metropolitan Mayor Osman Gürün announced that 2 billion TL was required for investments including water treatment, supply and sewerage in famous tourism towns Marmaris, Bodrum, Fethiye and Datça. Mayor Gürün explained they continued purification arrangements in water treatment and sewerage plants since their duty started. Mayor Gürün says these investments cannot be made with the budget of Muğla Metropolitan Council and they expect contributions from the government for Muğla, known as world paradise.
2 BILLION TL REQUIRED
Mayor Gürün explained all the treatment units in the entire city were rearranged and 1 billion TL was required for investments apart from 700 million TL which was required for investments related to water: “Our awareness on environment is not only related to the sea and sea cleaning; the facilities and units built on land are also vital. That’s why we have rearranged all our facilities in Muğla and made feasibility reports. Based on our rough calculations, 1 billion TL is currently required for investments including additional facilities, expansions and amendments in water treatment and sewerage units. If Muğla is heaven on earth, we need to protect this heaven as it is. We have determined that 700 million TL is required for water investments. For water, sewerage and purification treatments, 2 billion TL is approximately required to keep the infrastructure of Muğla as a tourism town.”
INVESTMENT AT ONE TENTH OF INCOME
Mayor Gürün indicates Muğla is a tourism centre: “It is not possible to make an investment worth 2 billion TL with current budget. Our government should definitely allocate funds for the environment and infrastructure of Muğla contributing with significant amount of income to our country. Environmental planning should be made for Muğla in 5 years.”
