The Minister Ertuğrul Günay stated the new advertisement allocation package in 24 cities and 69 areas in tourism would be announced until the weekend and said, “After it has been published on the Official Gazette today, İzmir Şirince has become the Tourism Protection and Development Area.” The Ministry of Culture and Tourism Assessment and Consultancy Council Meeting took place at Maxx Royal Hotel in Belek District of Antalya. The Minister Günay and several sector representatives discussed 2012 and plans for 2013 at the meeting. The Minister Günay made the opening speech of the meeting and pointed out that tourism suffered a lot in 2012 due to the incidents at the south of Turkey and said, “Four new tourism centres have been opened, which are İzmir Bayındır, Kütahya Ortaca, Sakarya Taraklı and Tokat Akbelen. We need quality more than quantity now. We aim at reaching the first top 10 at the important criteria in the world in the 100th year of the Republic. However, Turkish tourism sector is at the 6th in top 10 in the world. Our goal is to reach the top 5. Visitor numbers have reached 19 millions in 10 years. It is time to increase the quantity, brand value and income now. All investments are made to increase the brand value of Turkey. Fethiye Kayaköy will not be an abandoned treasure anymore in this package. I was upset because of the fact that Kayaköy has been a derelict place for 35 years. We will supply a notice presenting 300 bed capacity in cultural tourism base.”FG)
