Fethiye Council sent 2 trucks for help to the region after the earthquake epicentered in Tabanlı Village and measured 7.2 on the Richter scale striking Van Province. The aid by the Council included stove, dry beans, water, blankets, baby food, milk, biscuits, cleaning and hygiene supplies and winter clothing and Fethiye Mayor Saatçi said “This is our second aid convoy in our administrative period. The only goal is to reach those in need of these materials that noone should doubt about it.” Same level of donations are reaching to Erciş, the district where the earthquake hit severely. Fethiye Council sent two aid trucks for those suffering. Fethie Mayor Behçet Saatçi made a statement saying “Frst of all, my condolences to Turkish nation. We have to start with stereotype words. May God never show again this type of disaster. This is our second aid convoy in our administrative period. Our first campaign for help was after the Kocaeli earthquake in 1999. Now, we try to give a hand to our friends in Erciş, Van. Part of the aid is from our Council and the rest is from venerable Fethye citizens. Two trucks are already on the road. We are expecting them to arrive safely and reach to people in need. I am thankful to everyone in the council who worked through this campaign. Fethiye people also showed their sensibility once again. With a single speaker  announcement via Municipality, they filled a truck which is waiting in our garage.  We have citizens in our district who know the area. When they arrive there, nthey will inform us about the needs and what we can do. We are ready to donate and send all kind of help again. Hope we never have such disasters again. I hope our friends arrive to Erciş sound and safe. We send  two trucks of aid including stoves, dry beans, water, blankets, baby food, milk, biscuits, cleaning and hygiene supplies and winter clothing for the victims. Another is ready to go. As soon as our friends arrive and inform us about the needs, I believe Fethiye wil be ready to send 10 more trucks, not only one.”
