A citizen who ran amok in Fethiye opened fire to gendarmerie

50-year-old Ali Arıcı opened fire to gendarmerie who came to take him to hospital. Windows of the vehcle which soldiers used as a shield to protect themselves were all smashed to smithereens. By chance, gendarmes escaped without injury from the incident. The incident occured at Yuva Deresi of Ören Village, at Kemer in Fethiye. Ali Arıcı, married with three children, was depressed because his wife Havana was in Antalya for cancer treatment. He started to shoot around with rifle, and his relatives called gendarmerie. When gendarme arrived at the scene, Arıcı kept shooting and the windows of the vehicles smashed down. Arıcı ran away from the gendarme. A commando team was prompted to the scene together with  112 emergency teams and firemen. Gendarmerie decided that they wait in vain, and  Muğla Gendarmerie Commander Colonel Fevzi Kurşun has prepared a new plan of operation. Around 23:00 o’clock at night, he ordered all the teams to get back to the village square and ambush. Seeing the vehicles and teams have left, Ali Arıcı got out of his hiding place and went home, where gendarme teams waiting for him. He threatened them with his rifle, though, he was defused. Arıcı was taken into custody, and he was sent to the Patrol Commander of Gendarmerie before he was taken to Fethiye State Hospital for a health control. Investigation continues.
