In Ramadan, there has been a decrease in the number of domestic tourists whereas there is a considerable increase in the number of foreign tourists. The chief of Çalış Tourism and Advertisement Association, Mete Ay, stated that the last minute sales are going to be clear next week and the tournament of beach volleyball that is going to be held in August is going to be very helpful in terms of the presentation of the region. In the explanation he has made, Ay stated that “Before Ramadan, there was a nice fullness on Çalış Beach. With the start of Ramadan, there has been a considerable decrease in the number of domestic tourist. On the other hand, there is a significant increase in the number of foreign tourists. I think when the school term ends in England, the vacancies in Çalış will be filled. Last minute sales are going to be clear next week. We can only live the three months of six month long tourism season efficiently.”
Mete Ay, the chief of Çalış Tourism and Advertisement Assosiation who noted that they had organized various activities on the Çalış Beach, went on as follows: “On Sunday nights, a group of gipsy musicians and singers who play and sing Turkish Classical Music perform along the promenade. The domestic and foreign tourists dance on the streets. The tourists that come here want difference. We have made a questionnaire among our shop owners. We have some activities like carnivals for a few days, the rest of the time there is not any activities. We have the idea of spreading the activities like concerts and sports all over the season. We have been discussing the idea. We have afforded all the expenses of the festival. We cannot provide enough participation to the organization we make at the end of May. We have the idea of making such organization in high season.”
