British man who fell in love with Ölüdeniz laid to rest

Peter Tilsley, who He had been ill for some time and had been in and out of the hospital over the past three months passed away in the Esnaf Hospital. Peter’s working life, following National Service in the Navy, had involved him in many spheres: he owned and ran a petrol filling station; was a kitchen designer and a financial advisor. Peter, and his wife Pauline, first visited this area over 20 years ago and fell in love with the Ölüdeniz area, eventually buying a villa in Ovacık and living there since then. He was very entrepreneurial and successful, he had set up the Ovacık Residents’ Association and started a petition seeking for a reduction in British citizens Turkish residence permit fees.
Peter’s funeral was conducted by David Groom in Ovacık Cemetery. Ölüdeniz Mayor Keramettin Yılmaz, Tilsley’s family and friends, and other citizens and locals were present at the funeral.
Pauline Tinsley shed tears during the funeral, and his close friend Andy Cole played a tune with his beloved harmonica. Tinsley was laid to rest in Ölüdeniz upon his will.
