SONY DSCThe 5th morel mushrooms festival which was organized for the 5th time by Yeşilüzümlü Municipality attracted great attention this year as well. Since the municipal works have ended in Yeşilüzümlü when Muğla has gained the Metropolitan status, questions remain on whether the festival is to continue and habitués and visitors of the festival have asked to continue the festival even if Yeşilüzümlü will not be a municipality anymore. The 5th Yeşilüzümlü Region Morel Mushrooms Festival started with a flourish of trumpets last Friday and group exhibition of the famous painter Kenan Olgun was also opened at the first day. Yeşilüzümlü Primary School and Muğla University Folk Dance Group performed a folk dance show and mushroom soup was served. The panel on “Our Local Values and Their Sustainability” was presented by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Işıloğlu from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University with the presentation “The 5th Year of Our Morel Mushroom Festival”. Other presentations made at the festival are: “Our Local Values and Their Sustainability” by the farmer, cultural and natural agriculture practitioner Ali Kışlak, “Silk Farming in our Region” by Koza Birlik Board Member Durmuş Yılmaz, “Yeşilüzümlü Region Lining Weaving” by Traditional Crafts Field Searcher and Practitioner Fatma Özbalı, “The Importance of Traditional Cuisines – Slow Food” by Cuisine Chief and Blue Fethiye Professional Chefs Association President Onur Arslan, “Vine Cultivation and Winemaking in our Region” by Fethiye Wine Club President Filiz Almalı, “Beekeeping in our Region” by Muğla Beekeeping Association President Ziya Şahin, “Morel and Other Local Mushrooms” by the Assistant Prof.Dr. Aziz Türkoğlu from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University-Biology Department. Face painting and games were organized for children at the first day while in the evening, Üzümlü Primary School Baglama Group, Batuhan, Hasan Bülbül, Arif Sümbül and Enver Çatal concerts were held. The shopkeepers displayed their own crafts and skills at the second day, which attracted great attention and it was almost impossible to walk at the festival street. The local cuisine contest was held in the evening of the second day as well as the concerts of Group Shadow, İsmail Uzunoğlu, Mehmet Bülbül, Mustafa Selçukoğlu. As the last day of the festival was on Sunday, there was a stampede at the streets. Many families first visited especially the stalls again. Visitors saw the hand-made products at the stalls and did a lot of shopping. After the panel on Grapery and Winemaking Field Work, Yeşilüzümlü Primary School Folk Dance group performed the dances of Teke Region. Children got a stand in ovation and a Dastar fashion show was held at the Square of Yeşilüzümlü. After the winemaking contest, children were not forgotten again and Child Games was absolutely the best of the festival. Mario Süper Band, Alarga, Yusuf Bodur and Adem Kazan performed concerts at the late hours of the festival night. FG)
