Final Farewell with Turkish Folk Song Based on His Will
Turkish lover Dutch Sjouke Taekes Nauta who died in Fethiye was buried with the folk song “Yüksek Yüksek Tepelere” based on his last will and testament. Sjouke Taekes Nauta(80)from Holland was a Turkish lover and had come to Turkey in 2008. He had purchased a villa in Foça Neighbourhood in Fethiye District. Nauta, married and father of 3 children, had told his wife Hendrika Anna Tunderman Nauta “If I die, bury me with my favourite folk song ‘Yüksek Yüksek Tepelere’ at Foça Cemetery” as his last wish. Nauta wanted the flowers in his garden to be planted on his grave according to his will and bequeathed Marussia of Andre Rieu to be played in his funeral as well. The will of Sjouke Taekes Nautawas executed by his wife and children. The Priest David Groom organized the funeral at Foça Cemetery while Hendrika Anna Tunderman Nauta executed the will with their daughters Miryam Nauta and Anjelique Nauta one by one. They played the songs“Marussia” and “Yüksek Yüksek Tepelere” by his grave. His wife and children burst into tears and sang along the songs. The flowers which Nauta had requested on his will were also planted on his grave. Foça District Mukhtar İlker Can and the Turkish friends of Nauta also attended the funeral ceremony.
Anjeligue Nauta, daughter of Sjouke Taekes Nauta, said, “My father was a Turkish lover. He loved Fethiye very much. He bought a house 8 years ago. We moved here. He used to like this folk named Yüksek Yüksek Tepelere song very much. He wanted to be buried with this song on his will and we made his wish come true.”
