Pelicans living near a café on the coastline of Fethiye for over 2 months have become the new mascots of Fethiye.
Pelicans are fed with 4 kg of fish every day and named Tarzan Rıfkı and Cennet. 2 other pelicans used to live in the same place for almost 3 years and the owner of the café had changed the name of the café to Pelican Café. After these pelicans left the place, Hüseyin Şahin from Pelican Café brought 1 female and 1 male pelicans and released them to the nature. Pelicans fly over Gulf Fethiye and hunt fish in the sea. Citizens seeing pelicans take their photos by their mobile phones.
Hüseyin Şahin, one of the café managers, said, two pelicans have become the mascots of the coastline in Fethiye: “We named them Tarzan Rıfkı and Cennet. They came here 2 months ago. We feed them with 4 kilo of fish. They live and fly here freely. Our customers and citizens have got used to them. People take their photos as soon as they see them on the coastline. Tarzan Rıfkı is very friendly but Cennet is a bit shy.”
