International Shrill Pipe Festival to Take Place on September 02-03-04

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality is organizing the third shrill pipe festival. The international shrill pipe festival is to take place with the performances of 19 solo shrill pipe players at Prof. Dr. Şadan Gökovalı Open Air Theatre between September 02-03-04, 2015.

The art consultants of the festival organized internationally for two years are Ertan Tekin and Halil Çokyürekli; the General Art Director is the Assistant Professor Dr. Ercan Kılkıl from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. Musicians from Muğla, Aydın, Manisa, Erzurum, Kırklareli, Lüleburgaz, Trabzon, Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Eskişehir, Kırşehir, Kars, Artvin, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Greece and Armenia will perform for the festival. The guest of honour will be Arif Sağ, the master of bağlama-saz and respectable folk singer. The festival that is to take for 3 days welcomes folk singer Hüseyin Turan and many other musicians on the first day (02-09-2015). On the second day, the festival is to take place at Fethiye Beşkaza Square at 09.00 p.m. The last day of the festival is to take place in the same theatre as on the first day on 04-09-2015.

Muğla Mayor Dr. Osman Gürün stated: “This festival will be a significant event to maintain the culture of shrill pipe, the most important value of our folk music, and introduce this instrument to the youth. It will also be a great opportunity to show our master musicians the respect they deserve. I would like to thank everyone showing their support and those to attend the festival.”
