Lycian Challenge Adventure Race Started In Göcek
3rd Lycian Challenge Adventure Race started in Göcek with 53 cyclists. 53 cyclists from 11 countries participated in the race held by Fethiye Lycia Mountaineering & Outdoor Sports Club and Governorship of Muğla and started by Muğla Governor Fatih Şahin. The organization has brought 13 domestic and international teams together for a difficult but entertaining adventure including a combination of disciplines from trekking and trail running, to rope skills, navigation, mountain biking, sea kayak, swimming, coasteering and rafting.
Chair of Lycia Mountaineering & Outdoor Sports Club and Race Director Bora Borçin said that the race was organized by the supports of Muğla Governorship and Göcek Council, and he gave information about the content and purpose of the race.
He said the organization expects to diversify tourism in the region, or rather to create a new branch of tourism by combining it with nature sports. “This challenging race which lasted 4 days 3 nights non-stop was full of excitement on challenging routes, across the unique natural beauty of our region extending from the Mediterranean to the Western Taurus. There were 13 teams from various countries and a Turkish team could not participate for they had an accident recently. The challenge included a combination of disciplines from trekking and trail running, to rope skills, navigation, mountain biking, sea kayak, swimming, coasteering and rafting. “
Teams from Turkey, United Kingdom, Argentina, France, Poland, New Zealand, Spain, Denmark, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Uruguay started the race in Göcek at sea level and climbed Mount Çal with 2 thousand altitude
