Oh how i have missed you !
Since retiring from my last job where many of you knew me working in Fethiye, i have been busy catching up with some social things and also doing some freelancing.
Never a dull moment.
I do like to be busy so it does not suit me to be sat around at home twiddling my thumbs.
Since the column will be fortnightly i will try to fill you in on what”s on and what to do over the winter.
The weather has been glorious apart from the odd heavy downpour, so its great to be able to get out and about.
I went along to the Calis carnival christmas fayre and could not believe the turnout they had.
I hope they made plenty of money for the worthy causes and long may it continue.

Many of my friends will be going to the Uk for Christmas but for those of us staying here there is a lot more open this year.
I have recently enjoyed great set menu”s at the ZAKKUM on the Migros road, great staff and a great choice of well prepared reasonably priced food - a favourite place for our girls nights out as it is so central.
I see they have a good choice of Christmas and new years menus so it could ba a good place to go.
There does seem to more places staying open for the winter which is good news to those of us who are here permanently and do enjoy going out on a regular basis.
I”m also a big fan of the home-delivery especially when its pouring with rain and you don”t feel like cooking.

There is still a lot of work going on down by us on the seafront.
We have been given copies of the plans that show we will be getting a large fountain and a water feature along the main kordon.
Work is slowly progressing and they tell us it will be completed next February.
There are as usual many shops opening and closing all the time.
I heard that Domino”s pizza and Macdonalds are coming to town !
I do confess to a Burger king craving every now and then and it is always busy whenever i go in, even at off-peak times.

With not much Christmas shopping to do i have found it really easy this year.
For UK friends and family i have ordered online and they will get it all delivered direct.
Here we have put up a small tree- this year its black and silver themed for a change.
We have shortbread, mince pies, christmas pudding and the all important bottle of pink champagne.
We shall eat, drink and be merry !
This will be my last chance to talk to you before the festive season so may i wish you all:
MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Many thanks for all your good wishes and i will be here again very soon.
Mandy Hughes.
