Minibus Drivers Support Metropolitan Council
After the demonstration of taxi drivers to protest UKOME decisions at Tuesday Market in Fethiye last week, minibus cooperative managers gathered and cited that UKOME decisions were fair and everyone should do their own business. “Many license plates including vehicles for investment purposes of civil servants are not used properly. Metropolitan Council has made a good decision. Dolmus and taxi drivers will do their own business”, said minibus drivers.
8 cooperative managers representing 576 minibus drivers made a common press release and supported the decisions of Muğla Metropolitan Council transportation coordination centre. Kamil Erbaş, Ölüdeniz bus stop motor vehicles cooperative board member, explained, “When Muğla Metropolitan Council transportation coordination centre increases inspections, we believe illegal transportation will stop. New regulations are fair for the drivers of public transportation in Fethiye. It is decided that the number of seats in cab services are to be decreased from 7 to 4+1 and the vehicles with S license plate numbers cannot take the staff of more than one management from different spots at the same time and in the same vehicle using D2 certificate of authenticity as an excuse. The number of seats is no more than 4+1 in commercial cab services in anywhere in Turkey. On the other hand, some taxis carry out public transportation with 7 or even 9+1 seats in Fethiye. Unfortunately, these taxis were given permission in previous years and other drivers of public transportation have suffered. In addition, there are a lot of vehicles having illegal public transportation in Fethiye. We believe that the inspections of municipal traffic police started by Muğla Metropolitan Council transportation coordination centre will put an end to illegal transportation. We think these regulations are fair decisions for public transportation drivers in Fethiye. Cab services will function as cab services and minibuses will function as minibuses while service vehicles will only function as service vehicles. As the public transportation drivers in Fethiye, we think the decisions of Muğla Metropolitan Council Transportation Coordination Centre are fair and right and we believe the future decisions will be good for our drivers as well.”
