Profile of Turkish Travel Lovers with Statistics
Surveys and polls made by Momondo, international travel search engine, indicate the attitudes, expectations, thoughts and feelings of Turkish tourists in 2015.

WE CHECK PRICE FIRST, AVAILABILITY OF DIRECT FLIGHT COMES LATER
What matters most for Turkish people when they buy plane tickets is the price. 56 % of Turkish people say that they choose the best price for flights rather than other factors. The age group between 36 and 55 gives the most importance to price while the youths between 18 and 22 give the least importance to prices of plane tickets. The second factor determining our preferences for flights is direct flights. According to the survey which was carried out with 15 countries, we are the second country after China caring about winning points.
PRICE MATTERS FOR HOTEL PREFERENCES
According to Momondo, the most important criterion in hotel preferences for Turkish holiday-makers is also the price. 51 % of participants of the poll state that price is very important for them; the rate is 48% among women and 54% among men. The second most important factor is the distance of the hotel to historical and touristic spots of the destinations. Hotels with a special concept and different decoration are also important for Turkish tourists after the Chinese.
WE DECIDE TO BE BETTER PEOPLE WHEN WE ARE ON VACATION
30% of Turkish people decide to have a more active life and go to the gym when they return from holiday. 22% face their past mistakes when they go to holiday and say they will become a better friend, husband, wife or parent when they return. The poll indicates that 8% of the participants decide to have a child and 2 % decide to divorce after they return from holiday.
WE FEEL MORE ATTRACTIVE
Most of the Turkish people, 66%, feel happier and more positive while they are travelling. The rate of those who think holiday is good for their health is 43%. Relationships also get better with travels: 35% of those taking part in the survey believe their relationship with their partners gets better on holiday. 23% of Turkish people state that they are more sociable on holiday and 20% say travelling boosts their libido.
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS FOR HOLIDAY LOVE
Another striking result of the survey is that 37% of Turkish people think holiday love is wonderful: the rate of men is 42%. Based on this poll, no other country can compete with Turkish people when it comes to holiday love. It is the same for marriage proposals. 13% explained they were proposed when they were on holiday. We are the world champions for holiday love.
CARS COME FIRST FOR TRAVEL
For tourists worldwide, the most popular method to discover a city is to walk. On the other hand, Turkish people who love discovering a city by walking rank penultimate with a rate of 56% after China. Turkish tourists mostly prefer discovering a city by car and rank second after the USA with a rate of 38%.
40% say they are over budget on holiday. The rate of men is 38% while the rate of men is 42%. 10 % of Turkish people say they spend less than they expected.
ONE THIRD OF OUR PEOPLE GET DEPRESSED ON RETURN
One out of every three people living in Turkey suffers from post-travel depression. Every 34 of 100 participants of the survey say they feel unhappy and depressed after they return from holiday. The rate among youths reaches up to 40%. The rate of youths having difficulty in going back to school is 72%.
CHEAPEST TICKET AVAILABLE TO FIND 53 DAYS BEFORE FLIGHTS
According to the survey of Momondo, the cheapest plane tickets are available to find 53 days before the flight date. If you buy a ticket on this date, you make 26% more profit than those buying tickets on flight day. The cheapest flights may be found on Tuesdays while the most expensive tickets are sold mostly on Saturdays. The price difference between these days is approximately 12%. If you fly between 06.00 p.m. and 00.00 on the other hand, you save more money than those who fly in the afternoon, between 10.00 a.m. and 03.00 p.m., with 6% rate.
