Russian Guide Laid To Rest In Fethiye
32- year old Russian woman Irina Özkara living in Uzunyurt village of Ölüdeniz died in a fatal crash on her way from home to Fethiye. She lost control of her car for some unknown reasons crashing off the road and 200 m down the cliff.
Due to low traffic density on the road, no one noticed the accident in the first hand. The car was spotted hours later by Turkkish fishermen returning from fishing. A team from Fethiye AKUT (search and rescue) rushed to the scene and they could recover her dead body after 4 hours long rescue operation.
She was living in Turkey for 12 years and married to Mehmet Altuğ Özkara with a son. Özkara said she loved Turkey so much, and all her family members decided to bury her body in Fethiye. Her husband, son Kemal Emre, her mother Olga Savelyava, Fethiye Mayor Behçet Saatçi and her friends were present at her funeral. Her husband in tears said “She was in love with Turkey. We married in February 2000 and lived here since then. On the day of accident she called me and said she would check a friend’s house in Faralya after the heavy rain. She was going to pick me on her way back bu she could not.”
