Jeep Safari operators in Fethiye were shocked with the decision of Muğla Traffic Commission. According to the decision, jeep safari vehicles are banned to visit Saklıkent Gorge which is in fact the most favorite stop of jeep safari tours.

In accordance with the decision approved by the Commission, jeep safari operators will not be able to include Saklıkent Gorge on their route. 10 jeep safari operators in Fethiye  are getting ready for a protest against this decision. It is reported that approximately 130 safari jeeps stop at Saklıkent daily, which means about 100 thousand tourists visit the gorge via safari tours every year.

TURSAB Fethiye Manager Salih Taşçı said “With this decision, Saklıkent will be left to its fate. I believe that President of the Chamber of Drivers Hayri Topçu was influential on this decision. Hwever, we do not make transport on our way to Saklıkent. We have our connections abroad, and we take our guests to Saklıkent and to other stops on our route. There are 10 jeep safari agencies in Fethiye and almost 100 thousand people visit Saklıkent through jeep safari tours every year. This decision is a catastrophe for Fethiye, too. We will continue our legal fight against this decision.”
