Smoking inspection at hot spots in fethiye
Under the “smoke free environment” campaign started by ministry of health an indoors smoking inspection was conducted in fethiye. During the inspections conducted for the venues, it was checked if the warning signs announcing smoking ban are present and if smoking is allowed indoors. The controls at bars and restaurants lasted until late into the night. It was inspected that smoking ban is not violated at restaurants and bars, however, some venues did not have warning signs or they were not visible.
Banu mumcu chair of fethiye board of health said that they conduct these inspections regularly in regards with smoking ban. She pointed out that their aim is not to fine the venues but to raise awareness about the hazards of smoking. She said that the inspections have been ongoing since february and the amount of fine since then is about 35 thousand tl. She added that during night inspections they did not come across any venues violating smoking bans “we found out that people are not violating the ban at bars and restaurants in our town. In some of the venues warning signs were either missing or were not visible and business owners were warned about this. Warning signs will be handed to those businesses for one-time only.”
