The schools in central fethiye will be moved to the campus area at Değirmenbaşı region in order to take the burden off the city center.

A new school construction starts at Değirmenbaşı for Fethiye Fatih Anadolu Lisesi which occupies a large area in central Fethiye. The school will have 24 classes and is supposed to be completed in 450 days costing 5 million TL. Once the school moves from Fethiye to new campus,  especially the traffic will be free and easy. Another construction continues at the campus area for Fethiye Anadolu Sağlık Meslek Lisesi. This school will start 2012-2013 education year at the new campus, and the old building in Fethiye will be converted to Nenehatun Kindergarden.

Another schools in the campus area will be Anadolu İmam Hatip Lisesi (Religious high school) and Gülşen Gökçe Kız Meslek Lisesi (Vocational School for Girls). Girls school is built on behalf of benefactor businessman Yusuf İzzet Gökçe’s wife Gülşen Gökçe. This one, and Fen Lisesi built by the Council will be ready for the new education year.

Fethiye Mayor Behçet Saatçi said “Our council had decided to move Fethiye Lisesi three years ago and we notified the Ministry of National Education. However, there was no answer about it, positive or negative. If we can start the construction as we planned before, Fethiye Lisesi will also be moved to the campus at Değirmenbaşı. In my opinion, this one is the first to be moved. Once it is moved, face of Fethiye will be changed completely.”
