TAP will announce the results of the competition that was held in Muğla and environments in first week of June.
A total of 1 ton 208 kg waste batteries were collected with the participation of all grade schools and high schools in Fethiye. The first, second and the third winner will be determined on the basis of how many kg of waste batteries collected per student by the rate of school population. Waste batteries were sent to a recycling facility in Kocaeli certificated by the Ministry of Environment and Forest. Fethiye Municipality promotes the idea that waste batteries should be seperated from household waste and be collected in a different waste box. This way, they also try to raise ecological awareness. Environmental Protection and Control Coordinator Selver Hatice Kabak evaluated the work done saying We are very excited in regard with the results of the competition. Now that we have collected a total amount of 1208 kg. waste batteries, we are hopeful that our schools can be placed in top three. We are very thankful to our studentsfor their sensitivity, and I would like to announce in advance that the same competition will continue in coming academic years.”
