TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu Warns against ‘Cheque Theft’

Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, the President of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) visiting Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted that the number of cheque thefts increased in Turkey and “2-d barcoded cheques” should be used.

TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu visited Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Council President Osman Çıralı, Chamber President Akif Arıcan, executive board members, council members and chamber staff welcomed Hisarcıklıoğlu. Hisarcıklıoğlu attended in a meeting held at Lycia Hall of the Chamber and received information regarding the projects being implemented in Fethiye. Hisarcıklıoğlu presented the book of Dede Korkut Stories collected by TOBB to the Chamber President Akif Arıcan and Osman Çıralı. Arıcan gave Hisarcıklıoğlu a craft of “Yoruk woman” as a present.

‘CHEQUE THEFT NUMBERS INCREASE’

Hisarcıklıoğlu made a speech and said that the mutual problem of merchants and businessmen in Turkey was the increase of cheque thefts and they had a new alternative to prevent cheque thefts. Hisarciklioğlu explained:

“Apart from the usual cheques, 2-d cheques are used in the market today. If we demand 2-d cheques, we will be able to see all the background stories and records of our customers when they would like to use cheques for shopping as the banks do. We will get the answers to the questions whether they pay their debts or if they are good debtors or not. I will send the promotional films to Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Council members should watch it. Banks give 2 types of cheques these days. One of them is the usual cheque and the other is the 2-d cheque. Ask for 2-d cheques. Respectable people of business world will not be afraid of using 2-d cheques.”

‘CABLE CAR PROJECT DELAYED’

Hisarcıklıoğlu also talked about paragliding activities in Fethiye and stated that Mount Babadağ Cable Car Project delayed: “We are businessmen. We should finalize this project as soon as possible. If there is no money, there are financing models. Once we complete this project, both Fethiye and Turkey will win.”

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu also stated that the project for cruise port whose localization arrangements were carried out with the initiatives of Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry should be finalized and the related construction should commence. He said he knows about the problems of the domestic market, “This is not a local problem but a general problem of our country. I hope a government is to be formed after the elections and progress would begin with the new government.”
