According to the report of the International financial analysis company “Euromonitor International”, European tourists who would like to go on holiday show enormous interest to “rent-a-house” method. The report maintains that Europeans will spend 15.4 billion dollars in 2014 for “holiday for rent.” “Euromonitor International” has distributed a report to the sector representatives at World Travel Market which is shown one of the most important tourism fairs in the world and took place in London between November 4 and 7. Marmaris Tourism Union shared the report with the public and the part of the report maintaining that European tourists tend more to renting option for vacation attracted attention. The report indicates that, “European tourist sees renting a house more profitable and economical and there is a dramatic increase in the rate of rent-a-car sector. The sector of renting houses has grown 20 % in 2013. It is estimated that this market will reach 15.4 billion dollars in 2014. Cities like New York and Amsterdam consider this development and have decided to make new arrangements related to taxes and other social problems. Hoteliers not seeing this sector as a threat yet are expected to follow this increase closely within the next years.”
Marmaris Real Estate Consultancy Union President Yusuf Kenan Akkuş stated that there were developments proving the issues stated on this report. Akkuş pointed out that the renting prices increased especially in tourism season in holiday regions including Bodrum, Marmaris and Fethiye and finding a house for rent became harder. Akkuş said, “The demand for holiday homes to rent has been increasing so fast that the rent and property sale prices have been increasing as well. Rents and property purchase prices have increased 50 % than last year in Marmaris. The rent for 500 TL has increased to 750 TL and 200 thousand sale price has become 300 thousand TL. Our sector has grown 50 % due to the increasing demands. One of the reasons is the interest of tourists to houses for rent. Some foreigners purchase houses just to rent them in summer. Then they put their houses in the market abroad.”
