Foundations Lay for 12 Month Tourism
Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board in the presidency of Akif Arıcan that works very hard to increase the service quality of the Chamber since the beginning and develop our town economically and socially carries out several projects to extend tourism season getting shorter day by day.
Babadağ Cable Car Project which is in the process of tender, trekking and cycling roads opened to tourism, two new runways enabling paragliding flights for 12 months, the development of manufacturing industry in our region, the Organized Industrial State whose files have been arranged and planned to be opened for encouraging agriculture based industry, courses opened with the cooperation of Turkish Employment Agency to find qualified employees for administrations, the opening of Fethiye Faculty of Management to bring significant contributions to our town socially and economically, inotourism project showing the importance of development of diversity in tourism will make Fethiye active not only for 6 months but also for 12 months.
The Chamber President Akif Arıcan stated, “If we assess the opportunities in our town, tourism will last not for 3-4 months but for 12 months. We should work together to do this. As the Chamber, we are ready to do everything we can in every platform.”
The Chamber Board and President Akif Arıcan who work very hard to increase the service quality of the Chamber since the beginning and develop our town economically and socially carry out several projects to extend tourism season getting shorter day by day. Tourism season which does not last long causes unemployment among the young population, economic recession, problems in social life in our town and the Chamber has carried out several projects to revive the economic life, extend tourism season and bring unemployment to the lowest level. The Chamber aims at offering several alternatives except the sea-sun-sand tourism in our town for holiday-makers. Trekking roads offered as new tourism alternatives were introduced at fairs by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and arrangements are given the priority to extend tourism season.
Trekking and cycling roads, the cable car project which is to be let out for tender soon and enable 12 month paragliding even in cloudy weather and winter months, two new runways to be opened at 1200 and 850 m in June and training runways at 300 and 600 m to make Babadağ an attraction centre for clubs and schools are some of the significant projects for 12 month tourism goal.
