4 people seeking for treasure in an ancient city in fethiye were caught red-handed by gendarme. According to news, i.a(41), e.c(34), ö.ç(32) and m.y(45) were visiting the ancient city of karmylassos at kayaköy quite often, and they were followed by the gendarmerie because of their suspicious movements. Teams from muğla provincial command of gendarmerie, financial crime branch and ölüdeniz command of gendarmerie followed 4 men and determined that they were doing illegal excavation at karmylassos. After the technical follow-up and preparation, gendarmerie descended in the tombs of the ancient city. Together with treasure hunters, generators, shovels, electrical assembly and other necessary equipment with a guidance to decipher the meaning of the signs were seized. After the examination of the excavation area, it was found out that the walls of royal tombs with embossed lettering and illustrations were destroyed. 4 men were referred to the republican prosecutor’s office.
